The Many Hats Of Online Home Business Pt-2

In this post we are going even deeper into the many hats of online home business operation. Everyone wants to be their own boss, but few have the determination and self-discipline to set up their own home-business and then, do the work necessary, to get it off the ground.

Lets begin with a positive spin. To have a well established home business that puts money into your account every single day, even if your on vacation, or just playing with the kids, is just the very best of both worlds.
You do whatever work you need to do to maintain your home business, but your the boss and, your at home enjoying your family. Life is good!

The internet has made making money at home so much simpler than it used to be. There are numerous tools available online to simplify the whole home business operation, way beyond what most people even realize.

These tools, many that can be gotten free, can help you get started with your home business in record time. It is absolutely possible to have a web site set-up within hours, and begin making sales moments there-after.

Now do not think you are going to put up a website one-day, walk away, and expect to make thousands of dollars off of that site for ever there after. It just wont happen.

If you want to succeed with your home business it is going to take work – hard work, at first it will be very hard, as you establish your prescence on the internet. After you have achieved this you will be able to simply maintain your business – taking just a few hours per week and living comfortably there after. Yes, you can do this!

My goal for The Many Hats Of Home Business series is to get your goal-juices in high gear. If you want to succeed online with a home business you must first have goals. This is your very first hat and you must wear it to succeed, without goals, you will only succeed to fail.

Failing to plan, is planning to fail. How can this be any clearer? Lets put on our set-goal-hat, and prepare ourselves to reach those previously unreachable goals. Just remember they were not reached, because you failed to plan to reach them. So start planning!

If you thought I was going to make a plan for you in this post then you were clearly mistaken. I will pause here and in the next post of The Hats For Online Home Business series we will bring you even closer to understanding the many hats of online home business.

The Many Hats Of Home Business

What many home business entrepreneurs fail to consider when deciding on creating a home business is all the hats they must wear to run a home business.

First you must be the General Manager which requires you to absorb a lot of stress because you must make all the business decisions, write the business plan and keep informed by reading a lot of business publications.

Next we are the Marketing Manager because you need to figure out who your customers are, how to reach them and what they will buy.

Then you are the Advertising Manager and you must work closely with yourself as marketing manager to decide what and where to advertise.

Lets not leave out the Copywriter because you will need to write all the copy for your companies flyers, brochures, catalogs, articles, sales copy and advertisements. Of course you will need to hone up on your writing skills, meaning you will probably need to read a lot of books about writing from experts in the copy-writing field.

Of course working closely with the copywriter is the Printer and Graphics Artist as you collaborate on just the right amount of graphics to add to each printing to bring out the pop and capture the attention of those you are seeking.

As a Production Manager you get to decide the work schedules and set the quality control standards. Meaning you must set a distinct work schedule for yourself and stay with it. Also you must make certain your work is up to par so your business will thrive.

Somebody will need to be the Mail-room Supervisor, of course this will be you. You will need to browse all the email to see what is important and deleting all the spam.

Then you are the Customer Relations Secretary and must respond to all customer complaints in a timely manner and satisfy those customers to the point they are happy for having done business with you.

The next hat will be of the File Clerk because you will be required by law to keep all sorts of paperwork, (e.g. the final dispositon of customer complaints -i.e. did you give them something of value) and you must keep track of where you filed everything accumulated by all the different hats. Laws are different in every state and country but filing will always remain necessary.

As the Bookkeeper you will need to keep inventory records and income and expense journals for the next hat holder the accountant.

The Accountant must keep all the employee records, make certain the books are in order, make tax deposits or payments, prepare financial reports and tax returns, as well as stay up to date on all the many changes made to the tax laws. Should be left to professionals.

In our next edition, or post, we will discuss the many other hats needed to create and run an online home business. So do not miss The Hats For Online Home Business coming up next.

The Work From Home Online Opportunity -Part – 3

In this post of the work from home online opportunity series we are going to discuss determing your needs to create an online business.

It is suggested that in order to save money and time, that you plan out your website before you sign any contracts or spend any money on developing it. You will learn alot about your needs and costs by answering some basic questions.

1) How many visitors do you expect to visit your site?

2) How will your visitors find your site (What Marketing)?

3) Who will do the marketing?

4) How often will your site need to be updated?

5) Who will do the site updates?

6) Will you need to hire employees?

7) What functions will you site need (credit-card, mail, etc)?
8) Who will design the site?

9) How much would a designer cost?

10) Will your site recieve advertising revenues?

11) Will you have your own products to sale?

12) Will you need warehousing for inventory?

13) How many sales or leads will it take to break even on costs?
14) How soon do you need to reach break even (Be Specific)?
15) What is the volume of sales you want to reach in specific time periods (30-days, 90-days, 180-days, 1-year, 5-years, etc.)?

Use the answers to these questions to determine whether this is a feasible business venture. If they are good – the expected earnings far out weigh the costs, then you should give it serious consideration.

If they are bad – the earnings do not justify the costs, then you should look for other ways to cut expenses or increase revenues.

The important thing in any business venture is to set goals and keep close track of where you are in those goals so you do not get lost in meloncholy.

I hope you found this post helpful and you will come back for future posts to The Work From Home Online Opportunity series.
